OUR STRUGGLES:
AIBEA and Bank employees are known for fighting their way to improve their wages and service conditions. But that is only a part of our struggles. At every point of time, AIBEA has fought against the anti-people policies of the Government. In the 1960s AIBEA fought and achieved nationalisation of Banks. For the past more than two decades, AIBEA is consistently fighting against the neo-liberal economic policies and attempts to privatise the Public Sector Banks. Here is the catalogue of the strikes undertaken by AIBEA from 1991 ever since the liberalisation policies were announced and are being pursued by the Government.
1. 29.11.1991 Strike against price rise, government’s economic policies and threats of privatization
2. 16.09.1992 All India General Strike against Government’s Economic policies
3. 09.09.1993 Strike Call by Central Trade Unions against Government’s Economic policies
4. 17.02.1994 Strike against privatization of banks, branch closures, attacks on jobs and job security – jointly with AIBOA and BEFI
5. 08.04.1994 Against anti-people economic policies of the government and in defence of economic sovereignity. Joint call by AIBEA, AIBOC,NCBE, INBEF, INBOC, NOBW, NOBO, AIBOA and BEFI with financial sector unions
6. 11.05.1994 Against privatization bill passed in Parliament
7. 29.09.1994 Against economic policies of Government. Joint call by AIBEA, NCBE, BEFI, AIBOC

15. 21.5.2003 All India Industrial Strike – Call given by NPMO/UFBU against anti-people economic policies and privatization of public sector units
16. 23.2.2004 Call given by Central Trade Unions and UFBU against anti-people economic policies and privatization
17. 22.3.2005 UFBU call against attacks on banking industry in the form of mergers, amendment to BR Act, dilution of Government’s stake in Public Sector Banks etc.
18. 29.9.2005 National Strike against the Central Government’s economic policies along with Central Trade Unions
19. 28.7.2006 First of the hat-trick strikes. With AIBOA and BEFI – against the Government’s move to amend Banking Regulation Act, retro -grade moves including outsourcing policies.
20. 27.10.2006 Second of the hat-trick strikes. UFBU call – against Government’s retrograde banking policies along with our demands on one more option for pension, recruitments etc.
21. 14.12.2006 Last of the hat-trick strikes. With Central Trade Unions against the anti-people,anti-worker policies of the Government.
22. 25.1.2008 Strike demanding to press the demands for one more option for pension, recruitment and against outsourcing, merger of banks.
23. 20.8.2008 Strike demanding to press the demands for one more option for pension, recruitment, early wage revision and against outsourcing, merger of banks

26. 7.9.2010 Strike against disinvestment in Public Sector, job losses, alarming price rise etc., and demanding stringent enforcement of labour laws – Strike as per the declaration of the National Convention of Workers dated 15.7.2010
27. 5.8.2011 UFBU strike call against banking sector reforms, outsourcing of bank jobs, scrap Khandelwal Committee recommendations
28. 28.2.2012 AIBEA, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, NOBW, NOBO and INBEF joined the General Strike against banking and insurance sector reforms, demanding concrete measures to contain price rise, strict enforcement of labour laws, against privatization of public sector, stop outsourcing, demanding bonus for all
29. 23/24.8.2012 UFBU strike against banking sector reforms, banking law amendment bill and increasing attack on banking sector
30. 20.12.2012 AIBEA, BEFI and AIBOA strike against introduction and passing of Banking Law amendment Bill
31. 20/21.2.2013 UFBU strike call joining the Central Trade Unions against price rise, demanding concrete measures for employment generation, strict enforcement of labour laws, universal social security cover for the organized and unorganized workers, stoppage of disinvestment in Central and State Public Sector Units.

8th March, 2000 : Demanding recovery of NPAs, Disclosure of names of defaulters, against privatization
27th November, 2002 : Against privatization, Disclosure of names of defaulters of bank loans etc.
26th February, 2003 : With UFBU – Against anti-people, anti-labour policies of the Government
11th March, 2005 : With AIBOA, against merger proposals of banks, dilution of Government’s equity in public sector banks, FDI in private banks
31st August, 2007 : On People’s Charter of 20-point programme with AIBOA. Collection 1 crore signature and handing over the same to the Speaker of Parliament.
3rd December, 2009 : With AIBOA against Government’s proposal to merge Public Sector Banks, against takeover of State Bank of Indore by the State Bank of India.
23rd February, 2011 : Morcha to Parliament against privatization of PubliSector Banks, seeking World Bank loan to recapitalize nationalized banks, stop outsourcing in public sector banks, against licenses to be issued to industrial houses etc
29th May, 2013 : Morcha/Dharna before Parliament against Outsourcing and contractualisation of jobs and demands of contract employees – Morcha mobilizing outsourced/contract employees
11th December, 2013 : Morcha to Parliament by AIBEA against Banking sector reforms, issue of bank Licenses to corporate sector, NPA menace
12th December, 2013 : AIBEA joins Central Trade Unions Morcha against price rise, outsourcing and disinvestment in Public Sector etc.
