Uphold democratic right of women to protest
The Women Council of All India Bank Employees Association expresses its deep concern and strongly condemns the mishandling and ill-treatment of young women activists by the authorities during the recent protest programmes.
The right of women to participate in peaceful demonstrations, to express their views and raise their voices without fear or intimidation is a fundamental democratic right that must be respected and protected at all times.
It is deeply disturbing that when young women exercising their democratic rights are subjected to such unacceptable treatment. Their dignity, safety and freedom to participate in peaceful protests cannot be and should not be compromised under any circumstances.
The Women Council of AIBEA firmly stands for the dignity, equality and democratic rights of women.
We believe that women must be able to step forward, participate and make their voices heard without fear.
